01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Whether you prefer bright, fruity light roasts or medium-dark cups with a measured bitterness, sumi coffee brews each cup by hand to suit your tastes. Its highest-grade G1 Ethiopia Domerso Washed reveals citrusy brightness and sweetness before finishing cleanly like a fine black tea. The rotating bean lineup also features a buoyant Colombian selection reminiscent of red apple alongside a Guatemalan peaberry that highlights the rounded depth typical of single-seed coffee cherries.

To accompany the drinks, the café bakes gentle rice-flour sweets that are mindful of dietary burdens. The dine-in-only rice-flour gateau au chocolat, prepared in a limited batch of 1 servings a day, contains no wheat flour or eggs; it balances unrefined sudakitou cane sugar with a subtle hint of shoyu koji for depth, pairing naturally with fresh whipped cream. The lightly sweetened blueberry rice-flour muffin delivers a pleasantly chewy bite that satisfies, prompting many who enjoy one at the counter to grab another as a treat to take home.

Open during daytime hours on Thursdays, the cozy interior provides table seating along with low-temperature pasteurized milk, apple juice, and a baby chair for visiting families. Guests can linger over their brew in the dining room or pick up items to go, making it a calm stop for taking a breath mid-week.
